This should balance out a lot of struggles, especially with jewelry. I am hopeful that this will help US sellers out. However, we cannot move our factories since they are they 150+ years old in the UK soooo it will not help us lol. Overall though I feel this will level the playing field for a lot of sellers who struggle here to compete with lower quality mass production and pricing errors. I feel hopeful!

Still waiting for the de-minimus tariffs to kick in on May 2nd before we see any benefit.

These tariffs will certainly help weed out the direct shipping Chinese sellers but for most other HAQM sellers the tariffs are going to hurt as it is impossible to get product made in the US for the price that US consumers want to pay

Trump is doing all he can do but the problem is companies like amz and apple are in bed with china so they give them stipends to balance out the tariffs. Like currently amazon.cn is giving sellers based in china no amazon fees and 100% reimbursement shipping to the US. Basically HAQM is eating the tariffs NOT the sellers based in china.

What are you talking about? I'm in Michigan, but since 70% of HAQM sellers are selling imports, I do too. Explain to me how it's good for you if I lose my family business. I’m a U.S. seller. That’s a zero for me.

I was just making enough to survive—not even close to minimum wage—but we paid our bills. Now it’s all gone… and even worse, people are laughing when I say our tiny American family business is about to disappear. That’s evil.

People are also very ignorant. You guys know that pretty much nothing is 100% made in the U.S., right? Even if you buy clothes, the materials are imported. If you buy a TV, a phone, anything—it’s imported. Those "Made in USA" cars? They're just assembled here. A ton of parts are imported.

I just looked it up: not a single American company manufactures eBikes. None. Zero. Not even one.

You know what that means? It means we’re about to see brutal, inflation-driven price hikes. It means the dollar is going to be worth a lot less. Sure, you might be happy selling 10% more and making a little more money—but if inflation is way higher, it won’t matter.

But people don’t think ahead. Hell, many don’t think at all.

And even if tariffs go up to 200%, Chinese companies will still be selling here. The only ones who are going to get ripped off are the customers. Not by China. Not by sellers. But by the U.S. government. Because tariffs are paid by American customers—not China. That’s basic Economics 101, but most people just don’t get it.

Sure, Chinese sellers can be annoying—especially the hijackers—but it’s better to fight them than to lose your tiny business that helps you pay the bills and feed your family.

Not sure how this would affect Chinese sellers cost since it affects American consumers.

Whether you're a Chinese seller or a US based seller and you source goods manufactured in China, once it hits US soil and the Country of Origin states China, the tariff is then applied and A the US based business pays for it to be released by US customs, B The Chinese based business pays for it to be released by US customs, C the America consumer that purchased it from Temu or Alibaba pays to get it released by US customs.

The chinese manufactured cost remains the same or still cheaper than the American counterpart that also had to pay the tariff. Precious metals also have tariffs depending on the country their mined in, if anything this means lab grown gems (which china flooded US market with) will look even more enticing since cost is significantly lower even with tariffs and reselling of existing jewelry will go up. And if the cost of material that the US imports goes up, they would have to raise the sale price of goods they produce, but China and other manufacturers in other countries who do not rely on America for raw material will stay the same making it more lucrative for them to sell against the US to other foreign nations. Chinese and Japanese cars pricing stays the same to Europe and Australia for example, but US car prices will go up since it's more expensive now to import steel and other metals to build it making US cars more expensive in Europe and Australia.

I have a pre-paid 80K China order placed about 3 months ago when tariffs were about 45%. It is a DDP order and I paid bigly to get them to agree to it. I fully anticipate the factory to beg for a re-negotiation. Not quite sure how I will handle it as I already invested about 1K in inspectors and fees. If they want to cancel, I will have to at least ask for that 1K. I'm not sure if tariffs are in a force-major clause or not. Chinese contracts are not as detailed as US contracts in my experience. Interesting times!

First of all the US should have never relied on China for anything. They intend to rule the world. Maybe these tariffs will stop them from building another bomb aimed at us. Maybe Jeff won't be able to buy another mansion. We have to stick together. Pay extra for awhile but not be relying on a country that wants us dead.
