🚨 Reminder: Use This Process to Report Unauthorized Brand Name Changes 🚨

Hello Sellers!

We want to remind all sellers about the process to report unauthorized brand name changes on HAQM. In a recent post done by my colleague Sandy, found ->HERE<-, we outlined these steps:

  1. Submit a report through the "Report Abuse" feature, selecting "Product detail page was changed to represent a different product."
  2. We suggest sellers to provide relevant details such as when the ASIN was created, by whom, and what the brand name was originally.
  3. If your report is declined, create a discussion post in the "Manage Your Brand" category and include your complaint ID.

We are actively working with the owning team to give them all instances where these happen to improve our process and cannot do that without your help.

If you see other posts related to unauthorized brand name changes, please direct sellers to this information. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Jim_HAQM, I just applied for a new trademark and it was rejected with the reason: This decision was made since we could not verify the registered business name and business identifier (for example: tax ID number or business ID number) provided by you at the time of submitting the appeal form. I am the owner of the trademark on uspto and the owner of the company. I have filed appeals many times but they were rejected with the same reason, can you help me?

Case ID of this case is: 17805072161

I am the owner of the trademark with Serial number 99195105 on uspto

Are only brand owners allowed to report this?

What if you've been selling on a listing for a while, and suddenly the brand name is changed without your knowledge and you have no idea who made the change or when the listing was originally created?

Just out of curiosity, if a listing has multiple sellers, how can we tell who created the ASIN?

Do we go through the same process to report Brand Named items listed as Generic? As of now, it is impossible to get support to do anything about it. They just say we have to create a new ASIN, which is ridiculous. What about an ASIN that was created with an obviously wrong Brand Name so they can have the ASIN to themselves? That is also impossible to get support to either change it to the correct Brand Name or take the ASIN down.

Hey @Jim_HAQM,

This seemed like great news and that HAQM was finally taking action against this huge problem. But, I reported several ASINs I'm aware of with unauthorized brand changes and each received an instant (i.e., no real person read it) email reply that stated:

"Thank you for your report of a suspected policy violation. We cannot take action on the report as no violation has been identified on the reported [ASIN] for the violation type selected."

It appears HAQM is using the same AI/bots to review user reports from this form that already didn't catch these issues on the site.

It would be great if you guys would actually make sure the new solution actually works before touting it to us.

what can be done about a seller that is selling a product that is gated, but is making his own listings under his own brand to get around it? (which wouldn't be a major issue, but then copyright strikes people on his listings even though its not his brand)

I tried to report it and immediately got an email kicked back saying there was no violation. no one even looked at it.
