[Now Closed] Ask HAQM - GET ANSWERS on the new Image Requirements today, January 15th

Product images are crucial for selling on HAQM, helping customers evaluate items. HAQM has specific technical and content requirements for images to ensure quality and accuracy. Images that don't meet these standards may be rejected, removed, or altered. Non-compliant images can lead to product listing suppression from search results. When multiple sellers provide images for the same product, HAQM selects the ones that best meet their requirements to optimize customer experience.

⚡️ What You Need to Know:

The Listing Image partner team will answer all your questions posted in this event thread today, Wednesday, January 15th from 8 am - 5 pm PST.

🔍 Key Details:

Every product on HAQM must have at least one image. We prefer images to be larger than 1,000 pixels on the longest side to allow for zoom, which has been shown to enhance sales. We also prefer that images are provided in the JPEG file format. We recommend having at least six images and one video of the product.

All images must meet the following requirements:

  • 500 to 10,000 pixels on their longest side
  • Provided in JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg), TIFF (.tif), PNG (.png), or non-animated GIF (.gif) file formats
  • Clear with no pixilation or jagged edges

For more information, please read through the Product Image Requirements and Upload images in Image Manager.

(Posting early so you have AAAALLLL day to ignore me.)

This company is SO disjointed. It just becomes laughable after a point. Another thread like the previous "Get Answers on the New Product Title Policy..."

Dear HAQM: Adding new "rules" when the ones already in place are not enforced MAKES NO SENSE!

To wit, if HAQM is going to have rules and guidelines (which it must, no matter how poorly implemented), and "adjust" them from time-to-time, fine, but someone HAS to let offshore Seller Support in on your plans.

Do you even know how many hours sellers waste trying to get these undertrained (if trained at all) "teams" to remove/replace obviously non-compliant, poor, or just plain wrong images?

This is absolute nonsense and not a word of it is true. It may be the way HAQM wants it to be, but it's not the way it is.

I got no reply on my post about the "new" title requirements, so I doubt I'll get one here. It's frustrating and disappointing when mods and/or "partner teams" scurry for cover when the tough, but relevant, questions get asked.

Are these three the only requirements for approved photos?

What do we do about photos with extra items in them? How do we report those?

What do we do about photos with significant damage or parts missing? How do we report those?

Hello Jameson, how are you?

Here's my question regarding the new image guideline.

1. Can you provide specific examples of common errors that lead to image rejection?

2. How does HAQM determine which images from multiple sellers best meet the requirements?

3. Are there any new changes in the image guidelines for 2025 that sellers should be aware of?

4. What are the most critical technical specifications for images that could lead to suppression if not met?

5. How often does HAQM update its image requirements, and where is the best place to stay updated on these changes?

6. In terms of image quality, what is the preferred resolution and DPI HAQM recommends?

7. Are there specific color profiles that should be used when editing images to ensure they meet HAQM’s standards?

8. Is there a limit to the number of images a seller can upload per product, and if so, what is that limit?

9. Could you clarify the process for appealing a decision if an image is deemed non-compliant?

10. Are there particular categories or products that have additional image requirements beyond the general guidelines?

11. How does the zoom feature impact the image requirements, and are there minimum pixel dimensions to consider for this feature?

12. For lifestyle images, are there specific guidelines about the context or backgrounds that are acceptable or preferred?

13. What are the best practices for using text or graphics in product images without violating HAQM’s image policies?

14. Can you provide guidance on how to optimize images for mobile viewing?

15. Are there specific file size limitations for images, and how do they impact page load times and performance?

16. How does HAQM handle images with transparency, and are there any restrictions or recommendations?

17. What are the consequences of repeatedly submitting non-compliant images?

18. How do the image requirements vary between different HAQM marketplaces (e.g., US vs. EU)?

19. Can you explain the role of A+ content images in comparison to primary product images?

20. Are there any upcoming tools or features that will help sellers better meet image requirements or enhance their listings visually?

Hi @Jameson_HAQM,

Take a look at these Main Images from the top 20 best sellers in our category, Binoculars. All but a small handful of them are violating the Main Image policy by including props like a human hand holding the product, displaying multiple views, and putting random eye-catching birds in the image canvas.

It's a major problem for legitimate American sellers that main image policy seems to be enforced for us, but not enforced at all for the Chinese pseudo-brands that are taking over HAQM. This is just one of the many policies that they flout with complete impunity.

What will be done about this, and when?

Hi @Jameson_HAQM,

Take a look at these Main Images from the top 20 best sellers in our category, Binoculars. All but a small handful of them are violating the Main Image policy by including props like a human hand holding the product, displaying multiple views, and putting random eye-catching birds in the image canvas.

It's a major problem for legitimate American sellers that main image policy seems to be enforced for us, but not enforced at all for the Chinese pseudo-brands that are taking over HAQM. This is just one of the many policies that they flout with complete impunity.

What will be done about this, and when?
