No where to apply for gtin exemption
I am listing my first product on amazon. I have a listing that has variation of colors. When i type the info on the product identity first page and i dont click the variation button i am able to click i dont have a product id. I guess the apply now button does not come up because the category im in and the fact that im listing as generic means i automatically quality to be gtin exempt, only i am not able to add the variations this way. When i try to find the apply for gtin exempt page like how google search is telling me to do this way, there is no page. What should i do?

Hi @Seller_9qYjBNsA3H4iN,
From what I can see in the help page about GTIN exemptions, you'll want to get your exemption approved first, before setting up the variations. Under the "Request a GTIN exemption" section, it explains that you should:
- Fill in the product name and choose category/product type
- Enter brand name (or select "This product does not have a brand name")
- Check "I don't have a product ID"
- Click Next - this is when you should see the "Apply now" button
Once your exemption is approved, there's a small but important detail mentioned in the "Things to remember" section - you'll need to wait about 30 minutes before creating your listing.
After that waiting period, you can set up your variations following the steps in the variations help page. The process involves:
- Going to Catalog > Add Products
- Selecting "Blank form" and clicking "Start"
- Checking "This product has variations" on the Product Identity tab
- Setting up your color variations
One crucial tip from the help pages: make sure to enter your Category and Brand name exactly as they appear in your exemption approval - even small differences like extra spaces can prevent the system from recognizing your exemption.
Best regards,
Michael
