Ongoing Issue: Listings Repeatedly Flagged for Trademark Misuse
Hello everyone!
We are experiencing a recurring issue every few months where listings flagged for trademark misuse (even when compliant) are reinstated, but then automatically removed again after any update (e.g., price change).
We now have several local marketplaces under risk due to this situation.
What’s happening?
- Listing is flagged for a trademark violation (e.g., brand name in a compatibility statement).
- HAQM support reviews it, confirms compliance, and reinstates the listing.
- After any minor update, an automated system scan runs and flags it again, making the listing inactive.
- The cycle repeats, causing unnecessary rework and lost sales.
Why this matters:
- Sellers waste time repeatedly opening cases for the same listings.
- PPC usually goes
- HAQM’s support team also spends resources on avoidable reinstatements.
- This affects multiple sellers across different marketplaces.
Needed Fix:
HAQM’s system should differentiate compliant vs. non-compliant uses of trademarked terms in compatibility statements to prevent these repeated false flags.
Is anyone else facing this issue?
Any solutions from HAQM’s side? We would gladly collaborate with HAQM and provide all the necessary technical details for a permanent fix.
Thank you all in advance!
Kind Regards,
John

Hello @Seller_EW3v0OzwnMKTM,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention on the Forums.
I understand your concern and frustration when dealing with trademark issues due to a compatibility statement. It would be helpful to have a specific example of what you are struggling with.
This is what I understand about trademarks: Intellectual Property Policy for Sellers - FAQ about Trademarks - this explains the compatible with rules specifically:
As a seller, when can I use someone else’s trademark in the creation of a product detail page? Typically, a seller can use someone else’s trademark in the following circumstances:
- When selling authentic goods, a seller may use a trademarked name to list those goods. For example, a seller who lists an authentic “Pinzon” product is not necessarily infringing on the owner of the Pinzon trademark because the seller is using the trademark to identify an authentic product.
- When using a trademarked word in its ordinary dictionary meaning.
- When making truthful statements that a product is compatible with a trademarked product. For example, if you offer a cable that is compatible with the Kindle e-reader, you can use the brand name “Kindle” to indicate that compatibility in the text of your detail page. You cannot use a logo to indicate compatibility, only the brand name. Any statement you make about compatibility must be true. If you want to indicate the compatibility of your product with a product of a different brand in the product title, build your product title using the format below, taking account of the HAQM Brand Name Policy. If you do not apply this format to your product title, your listing may be removed as potentially trademark infringing.
Title format for branded compatible products
[Your Product’s Brand Name] + [Product Name] + "for"/”compatible with”/”fits”/”intended for” + [Brand of Main Product] + [Main Product Name] + (other product title elements, if applicable)
Examples:
- Xandu USB charging cable, compatible with HAQMBasics speaker
- TonTon Sleeve intended for Kindle Fire
Title format for generic compatible products
"Generic" + [Product Name] + "for"/”compatible with”/”fits”/”intended for” + [Brand of Main Product] + [Main Product Name] + (other product title elements, if applicable)
Example:
Generic Replacement filter for HAQMBasics Waterfilter A3
- Note: When making genuine claims that a product is compatible with a trademarked product, use either of these terms that indicate compatibility as listed above, in the bullet point and product description as well.
I realize this is a lot of information, but if you follow the examples above when creating a "compatible with" listing, it should prevent unnecessary violations.
I do encourage you to continue to refer to this thread with any additional information, such as an ASIN or performance notification, to allow for more specific guidance. I look forward to your response. Thank you for reaching out on the Forums.
